Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, publicly advocated for a coordinated slowdown in artificial intelligence development, warning about the risks associated with the uncontrolled advancement of this technology.
Amodei's call managed to gather significant support from prominent figures in the tech sector, including Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, Elon Musk and Demis Hassabis, founder of Google DeepMind, demonstrating a rare convergence of opinions among competing companies in the AI field.
However, Amodei acknowledges that the plan could completely fail if China does not join the movement. The absence of a comprehensive international commitment, particularly from one of the main global players in AI development, could compromise any coordinated effort to regulate or slow down the sector.
