The hot and dry weather is here to stay in Portugal. Civil Protection issued an alert about the meteorological conditions that are favorable to rural fires, warning the population about the high risk.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts the continuation of this hot and dry weather in the coming days, with no prospects of significant change in atmospheric conditions.
IPMA forecasts also indicate a gradual increase in wind intensity, which contributes to worsening the fire risk in rural areas of the country.
Regarding temperatures, maximum values above 40 degrees Celsius are expected in the interior of the southern region and in the Tagus valley, reinforcing the need for vigilance and prevention.
