João Paulo Santos, 46 years old, was arrested in an operation against drug trafficking. He is a falconer who provided occasional services to Benfica. The man is in preventive detention at the prison attached to the headquarters of the Judicial Police in Lisbon.
The suspect is pointed out as a member of a criminal organization dedicated to introducing large quantities of cocaine into the European continent. The drug arrived by air through commercial flights from Latin America.
João Paulo Santos is suspected of having helped a friend, an airport employee, to remove suitcases from the normal collection and inspection circuit. In this way, he facilitated access to the drug. Two workers from service companies at Lisbon airport are involved.
The defendant is in the prison attached to the PJ headquarters in Lisbon, where he is serving preventive detention together with another defendant in the Falcon operation.
