The Municipality of Guimarães and the University of Minho met to strengthen cooperation between the higher education institution and the city, with the objective of creating new opportunities for interaction between students and the Vimaranense territory. The meeting highlighted the importance of bringing the academic community closer to the city and of valuing the role of the University of Minho in the development of Guimarães and the region.
During the meeting, various topics were addressed, including the welcoming of new students for the 2026/2027 academic year, the Freshman Reception Festivities, and the organization of START POINT Summit Guimarães 2026. Issues related to transportation between Guimarães and Braga were also part of the discussion agenda.
Collaboration proposals were also presented in areas such as non-formal education, intergenerational housing, and psychological support. These initiatives foresee the implementation of volunteering projects promoted by University of Minho students, with potential application in the city of Guimarães.
