The Municipal Chamber of Guimarães approved the revision of the Municipal Master Plan (PDM) by majority, with the abstention of the councilors from the Socialist Party. The vote took place at the Municipal Executive meeting held at the Town Hall, and the document now proceeds to consideration and voting by the Municipal Assembly.
The approved proposal incorporates relevant changes introduced during the current term, strengthening the territory's response capacity in the areas of housing, economic activity and mobility. These changes aim to address the political priorities of the municipality.
Before the vote, architect Pedro Sousa, from the municipal team, presented the main measures and alterations introduced in the proposal, framing the adopted options legally and technically. The President of the Chamber, Ricardo Araújo, highlighted the decision to work on the existing proposal, valuing the work already developed.
Ricardo Araújo stated that "Guimarães waited too long for this document" and that "in 11 months they managed to significantly improve the Municipal Master Plan, responding to the political priorities" they have always defended. The mayor considered the approval a decisive step to conclude the PDM revision process.
