Former prime minister José Sócrates returned to court to continue his testimony in the Marquês Operation trial. This was his second appearance in court, having already been present in Thursday's session.
Sócrates was being heard as part of the Marquês Operation case, one of the largest judicial proceedings in Portugal, involving suspicions of corruption, tax fraud, and money laundering. The trial is taking place in Lisbon.
The former prime minister had already given testimony in the previous session, held on Thursday, and now continued his deposition. The judicial authorities continue to investigate the alleged criminal practices associated with this case.
The Marquês Operation involved several other people besides Sócrates, including former collaborators and businessmen. The case has been followed with great media attention in Portugal.
