Nine people, aged between 17 and 29, were arrested on Monday, September 14, in the municipality of Albufeira, on suspicion of aiding drug trafficking. The operation was conducted jointly by the Maritime Police, through the Portimão Local Command and the Central Criminal Investigation Unit, and by the Republican National Guard, in coordination with the Faro Territorial Command.
The police action was triggered following information that led to the mobilization of resources to the vicinity of Praia da Falésia, where elements from both forces carried out the joint intervention and arrested the nine suspects in the act.
In addition to the arrests, a vehicle, five registration certificates, three keys to different vehicles, a drone and five mobile phones were seized. On the beach, the Maritime Police also found and seized 100 jerrycans containing fuel.
Authorities continue to carry out procedural steps in coordination with the Public Prosecutor's Office, with a view to presenting the nine arrested individuals to the competent judicial authority and defining subsequent procedures.
