Residents of Rio de Janeiro's South Zone report a series of cell phone robberies committed by the same motorcyclist in different neighborhoods such as Ipanema, Leblon and Copacabana. The criminal uses a red Honda Sahara motorcycle to approach his victims, getting close to them and slapping their hand to grab the device, quickly fleeing afterward.
The most recent case occurred on Tuesday afternoon (2), at the intersection of Visconde de Pirajá Avenue and Aníbal de Mendonça Street, in Ipanema. The red Sahara driver approached the victim around 3pm and, after taking the cell phone, fled toward Lagoa.
The reports took over social media after the latest occurrence, gathering stories from other neighborhoods in the region with the same characteristics. A video shows a driver chasing the suspect and telling him he had been filmed stealing a cell phone.
