Alentejo has 147 million euros to invest by the end of the year

Alentrium14 September 2026 at 22:42

The Alentejo 2030 program should make available 147 million euros in new notices between September and December 2026, representing the third largest allocation planned in the new calendar of calls for proposals from the European funds of Portugal 2030. This value is part of a national package of almost 852 million euros, distributed across 85 notices to be launched by the end of the year, of which 58 correspond to calls for proposals and 27 are notices by invitation.

The areas covered by the new notices include affordable housing, student accommodation, decarbonization, energy efficiency, productive innovation, internationalization of companies and digitization of Public Administration. The calendar results from the Annual Notice Plan, approved through Resolution No. 23/2026/PL, of September 10, of the Interministerial Coordination Commission of Portugal 2030.

The Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Castro Almeida, explained that the advance disclosure of the calendar aims to allow potential beneficiaries to learn about funding opportunities and prepare investments before the opening of the calls for proposals. With the planned notices, Portugal 2030 should reach 19.3 billion euros in calls for proposals, equivalent to 93% of the program's allocation.

Alentejo 2030 already accounts for more than 568 million euros in approved operations, with a commitment rate of 53.5% and an execution rate of 12.7%. Of the approved funds, 61.49% are associated with private entities and 38.51% with public entities. By the end of 2026, the program estimates reaching approximately 237.5 million euros in execution for the N+3 target.

Why this matters

Residents and businesses in Alentejo will have access to 147 million euros in new European funding for areas such as affordable housing, student housing, energy transition and business innovation. The advance calendar allows potential beneficiaries to prepare for the calls for proposals that will be opened until December.

It's not just oil. Centeno says it's 'only a matter of time' until the gas price rise 'reaches' the rest of the economy

Former Portuguese Finance Minister Mário Centeno warned that the rise in natural gas prices is only a matter of time before it affects the entire Portuguese economy, not just the energy sector. In an interview with RTP, Centeno recalled that the Portuguese Government receives hundreds of millions of euros annually in dividends from Galp and Caixa Geral de Depósitos, which gives it its own revenues to mitigate the impact of the energy crisis on families and businesses.
