"It seems like all of Portugal came to the Feiras Novas"

Alto Minho14 September 2026 at 18:18

Thousands of people watched, on Sunday night, the fireworks of the Feiras Novas, in Ponte de Lima. The show was preceded by a drone presentation dedicated to the 200 years of the pilgrimage, which formed images alluding to the main symbols of the Feiras Novas, from its origin to the present day. Then, the sky was filled with the pyromusical show, which combined fireworks and music, with the fire cascade installed on Ponte da Guia being another of the most impressive moments for the audience.

The "midnight fire" began at half past midnight, but hours before, many already occupied a privileged spot so as not to miss the show. Carlos Costa said he had been sitting for a long time waiting and that his back was even hurting, but he stated it was very much worth it and that it was spectacular.

The show ended with an ovation and the exodus of people who were along the banks of the Lima impressed those watching this moment for the first time. Clara Fernandes stated that "it seems like all of Portugal came to the Feiras Novas."

Why this matters

The article describes a major regional cultural event in Ponte de Lima, celebrating the 200 years of the Feiras Novas, which attracts visitors from across the country and is significant for tourism and local tradition.
