Chega party announced it will support the Left Bloc's proposal to create a parliamentary inquiry commission into the national exams process. The vote is scheduled to take place on Wednesday in the Assembly of the Republic.
The Left Bloc presented this proposal following problems detected in the national exams. The initiative aims to analyze what went wrong in the process and establish accountability.
With Chega's support, the proposal now has a better chance of advancing in parliament. The Left Bloc is the party that formally submitted the initiative, but needed backing from other parliamentary groups for the inquiry commission to be approved.
The inquiry commission will allow parliament to hear witnesses and analyze documents related to the organization of national exams. The debate in the Assembly of the Republic on Wednesday will be the decisive moment for the approval or rejection of this proposal.
