The week begins with a yellow heat warning issued by the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) for 15 districts of Portugal. Only Bragança, Guarda, and Faro are exempt from this warning. Temperatures may reach 38°C in various points of the country's interior, from North to South, with above-average values also expected on the coastal strip.
In coastal district capitals, temperatures will be milder, with Viana do Castelo registering 24°C and Aveiro 28°C, these being the coolest district capitals in the country.
From tomorrow, Tuesday, a generalized drop in temperatures is forecast. However, the interior strip may still record values up to 37°C, while coastal district capitals should not exceed the values recorded today. This thermal contrast between today and tomorrow will be evident, although it will not be felt uniformly across the entire national territory.
